The privacy commissioner found that only six per cent of the RCMP searches with Clearview AI could be attributed to the reason the force claimed it bought the licenses: for child exploitation units.

The force previously admitted it acquired the licenses for three other units, but has refused to say which ones. Exclusive contract and procurement documents I obtained offer hints about who else had access at the RCMP.

Ezra Levant used it to recruit supporters in his latest online campaign, built on the phrase “They tried to kill The Rebel” and launched after the website was briefly unavailable to some regions of the world.

It earned him some unquestioning media coverage, but is the claim true?
